Jimmy and Moondi were members of that fine group Chesapeake. This CD which features no guest musicians is a pure delight. It reminds me of those days back in the 60's when folk music was king. For lovers of good music.

My how Jessie and Taylor have grown. They sound vocally like a cross between Don and Phil Everly when they did on "Songs Our Daddy Taught Us," the Louvin Brothers and Jim & Jesse. That is a high compliment. Backed by Michael Cleveland, Audie Blaylock, Barry Reid, 'crazy' Frank Wakefield, Jordan Tice and Danny Knicely as well as Anna Backer (their mama), the brothers have released what is without doubt their best CD to date. Musically, Jessie and Taylor threaten to become a major force in Bluegrass.

Take banjo player Wes Corbett, Simon Chrisman on hammered dulcimer and guitarist Jordan Tice and you come up with music that defies categorization. Think Nickel Creek, Three Ring Circle, Bela Fleck, Tony Trischka, David Grisman and you get the picture. If you haven't got it yet then take Jazz, Celtic, Psychograss, Dawg music, Pentangle folk and fix them up in an acoustic pot.
Not since the late and much lamented David Schnauffer have I heard a dulcimer played with such style as in the hands of young Mr. Chrisman. Wes' banjo and Jordan's guitar both underpin and weave around the dulcimer to make audio-visual patterns. This instrumental album will find itself at the front of my listening for a long time collection.
